A fun way to start the day

A friend once gave me the gift of Angel Cards. I keep them in a bowl by my jewelry box and pick a “word of the day” each morning. My girls have joined my daily ritual and if my husband has an important meeting or race we’ll pick one for him too.

Slip, Slop, Slap – Lube up this Summer

Friends at work sent me these videos. First  is this adorable clip from our Aussie friends that you can let your kids watch to help them want to wear sunscreen. Here is another one sent by my friend Laura who’s mom recently passed away from Melanoma. Please take the time to watch it

After a fun weekend and a really late Sunday our little ones were over-tired come Monday morning.  Translation: melt down for my two-year old at her ballet recital.  While the other toddlers were doing their bat-mas and tondus, she sat in my lap and kept saying, “No ballet Mommy. Want my paci.”  Eventually she warmed up but insisted on wearing her adorable little pink leotard and tutu OVER her green pants and long sleeve butterfly shirt… needless to say she didn’t quite fit in with the rest of the class.  She yawned through her solo, ending with a quiet “Ta-Da.”

This weekend we traveled to Columbia Maryland for my husband’s first race of the season.  Thanks to the grandmas watching the little ones we went with just our 4-year-old daughter.  That meant no bottles, diapers or strollers!  And we got to actually watch the race.  Of course we missed the little guys, but it was such a fun quick trip and the icing on the cake? he took first place out of 160+ guys in his age group, “Go, Daddy, Go!”

We cannot all do great things,

…but we can do small things with great love.

Note: The weekly peek will be moving to a bi-weekly newsletter for the summer – starting with the next issue on June, 7 2011.
